Hey, it’ cold out there. The temperatures for those early morning and evening runs can hover anywhere between 20 and 50 degrees. And conditions vary from completely still to breezy, drizzly to downpour, and everything in between. For all but the heartiest runner, these varied conditions demand some protection beyond the typical t-shirt. Here are four state-of-the-art running jackets that fit the bill:

The North Face Better Than Naked Jacket
– When the old t-shirt just isn’t enough, The North Face Better Than Naked provides a soft, stretchy extra layer that’s breathable and weather resistant. See review.

Saucony Nomad Jacket – As the temperatures drop into the 30s and 40s, this jacket from Saucony delivers warmth and while not overheating. Unique mesh at the back provides extra ventilation. See review.

ASICS Storm Shelter Jacket
– When it’s wet out, you’re going to want the ASICS Storm Shelter. The jacket has a hard outer shell lined with soft mesh. Extra long internal cuffs with thumb holes keep your digits warm too. See review.

REI Winterflyte Convertible Jacket – For everything in between, the versatile Winterflyte Jacket from REI easily converts to a vest for days when a jacket is just too much. The softshell exterior provides warmth and weather protection. See review.

Depending on the conditions in your area, one or more of these jackets will provide protection in all but the worst weather.
